Drainage pollution causes a stink in Glenwood

Months after no reponse from the KZN Health Department, Glenwood residents are fed up with sewage and restaurant waste streaming down their street.

GLENWOOD residents have had enough of the filthy sewage problem that has been affecting the community surrounding Shuter Road.

Resident Trevor Mcclymon, said it was nearly four months since sewage and restaurant waste started streaming down Shuter Road. He said concerned members of the Glenwood community tried to investigate with various restaurants and shops in the surrounding vicinity but nobody could pinpoint who was responsible for causing the smelly overflow.

Concerned resident, Helen Thompson said, “We put in complaints about four months ago to the Health Department and we are still waiting. Last month someone came to check it and we hoped it would be sorted out but nothing has changed. The stench is unbelievably bad and can only get worse, especially now that summer is coming!”

Thompson said residents constantly had a stream of table scraps from people’s plates floating down the side of the road. “We've seen it all from food, to serviettes, bones and cleaning sponges”
