Alleged drug dealer busted in Point

The Durban Flying Narcotics Task Team arrested a man believed to be a drug dealer in the Point area on Wednesday evening.

THE Durban Flying Narcotics Task Team are continuing with their mission to eradicate drug-trade in the Durban and surrounding areas with their latest efforts reeling in an alleged drug delaer in the Point area.

According to Captain Thulani Zwane, a 39-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of cocaine powder in an operation conducted last night (Wednesday, 1 October) at about 6.45pm.

“He was arrested while parked near the Addington hospital. Police proceeded to his place of residence in Grey Street where other packets of cocaine powder were seized. The estimated value of drugs is more than R130 000,” said Zwane.

Police also seized R7 750 which is suspected to be the proceeds of drug-trade. The man was charged for possession of drugs and is expected to appear in Durban Magistrates’ Court today.

KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni high praised Narcotics Team in their effort to fight drug dealing and drug use in the area. “We will continue with this war on drugs and we will not stop until we have conquered it,” she said.
