Mugger stabs victim

Three men were arrested by Berea SAPS for robbery last Friday night.

According to Lieutenant PN Naidoo, the victim was approached by three men on Povall Road at around 9pm. “They grabbed him, and one man stabbed him with a screwdriver and took his cellphone. The man managed to break free and ran to Berea police station where he informed the police,” explained Naidoo.

Alert neighbour helps foil theft

A Botanic Gardens man was lucky to have a neighbour alert him to three suspects interfering with his car at three o' clock on Saturday morning.

According to Lt PN Naidoo, the man was awoken by his neighbour informing him that three men were trying to steal from his car. “He immediately phoned the police who responded and arrested the suspects. The wheel nuts had been loosened because they were trying to steal the tyres,” explained Naidoo.

All three men were arrested for theft out of a motor vehicle and detained at Berea SAPS.

Be crime aware

Berea police want to encourage the public to be extra vigilant at all times.

“Try not to walk on the street alone at night,” advised Lt PN Naidoo. He also advised people not to carry valuables like laptops and tablets on the street as it would create an opportunity for criminals to act.
