Eden hosts green fest

Work by local designers was showcased at the recent Eden College Eco Fresh Fest fashion show.

EDEN College hosted a group of local designers at Eden's recent Eco Fresh Fest fashion show.

Grade 5 and 6 models showed off Woza Moyo outfits for the Hillaids centre in Hillcrest. This inspiring initiative, started by Paula Thompson, has harnessed the amazing creativity of the ladies of the Valley of 1000 Hills, many of whom were destitute and HIV positive before the advent of this initiative. This has grown into a business which supplies corporates with corporate gifting, event companies with party favors and local designers, like Karin Monk Klinstra, with jewellery for her fashion show ranges. They have exhibited at Jo’burg Fashion week, Cape Town’s Design Indaba, and execute designs in beadwork for functions. Other designer items included Meg’s Bags and Stuff which is a range by local artist Megan Bonnetard and was presented by the Grade 7s. Glenwood-based family-run business, Purple Tulip's work was showcased by models from Eden.
