NPO achieves ISO listing for food packing

Saint Giles' Work Centre is the only NPO in the country to achieve an ISO listing.

SAINT Giles, a non-profit organisation for the disabled, has a Work Centre based at its offices at 4 Prince Street, South Beach, Durban.

The Work Centre has been operational for 39 years and now employs 73 disabled people. These employees are permanent rather than casual or contract workers. As a result, Saint Giles is well aware of their capabilities and they produce work of a very high quality.

In May this year, Saint Giles was assessed and found to comply with the requirements of the FSSC Certification Scheme for food safety systems. This certification is applicable for receiving of raw materials, storage, packing of spices, storage and distribution.

Saint Giles has been advised that it is the only NPO in South Africa to have achieved this listing. The Work Centre has production floor space available and is keen to quote for new work.

Contact Doug Fry on 031 337 4404 to find out more about the Work Centre and its capabilities. More work would allow for the employment of more people with disabilities.
