What's on in and around Durban this week.

THE Morning Trade market is on every Sunday from 8am to 2pm as a market platform for local farmers, artisan producers and organic merchants to share their wares with Durban’s public. The market is situated at 8 Morrison Street, Durban.

Go along and source your locally-produced fresh and speciality goods, or just to meet friends over delicious artisan food and drink.

TAFTA will host a support group for friends, family members and care givers of Alzheimers patients at TAFTA Lodge, 42 South Beach Avenue, Durban. Contact Nivashnee on 031 332 3721 for more information.

THE Nazareth House Charity Shop on Ridge Road is open between 9am and 12 noon every Tuesday. The charity shop raises much needed funds for the home and needs the support of the public.

Any donations of clothing, bric-a-brac etc are welcome. Nazareth House will collect.

WEEKLY meditation classes in Morningside at 323 Innes Road on Tuesdays, 7.45am to 8.30am and Tuesdays, 7pm to 8pm.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Branch of the South African Military History Society will meet on Thursday 14 August in the Murray Lecture Theatre, Department of Civil Engineering, University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard College Campus at 7pm.

The two speakers will be James van Vuuren on Sites of conflict in KZN – Who carries the Can? and Dr Mark Coghlan on The Umvoti Mounted Rifles in World War 1. This talk forms part of the Branch’s commemoration of the centenary of the Great War.

DURBAN seniors social club (former KZ-NARPE) will host a coffee morning on Wednesday 20 August at Berea Congregational Church, Pardy Gardens Road, off Musgrave Road, at 9am for 9.30am.

There will be a musical morning with entertainment by Pat Haley and her ladies. All ladies and gents welcome. Cost is R10 for members and R12 for visitors which includes refreshements.

THE monthly open morning at Beachwood Mangroves Reserve is on 16 August.

There will be a bird walk at 8am with a local bird enthusiast. Thereafter Ezemvelo Wildlife Honorary Officers will be on hand to take out walks and answer questions. Braai areas and picnic spots available. Bookings not required. Entrance is free.

THE Rhodesia Association of South Africa (incorporating the Flame Lily Foundation) will meet at Poinsettia Park, 619 Kingsway, Amanzimtoti on Sunday 17 August from 11am.

It will be a braai for all members of RASA and any other Rhodesian/Zimbabweans who would like to join in.

Braai fires, sadza and gravy will be provided, take your own refreshments, meat and a salad to share.

EDEN College will hold its Green Fest on Sunday 17 August from 10am to 2.30pm.

There will be the Fresh Fest, the school's eco-orientated fair and a fashion show showcasing locally produced items, supporting local designers and small businesses and NGOs.

Tickets are R10 and funds raised go towards Acting for Rhinos/KZN Project Rhino and Eden's Cultural Extension Club.

LIVING beyond suicide, suffering from depression or other mental ailments. SOLOS-is a support group that meets once a month offering a non-judgmental safe environment to you, to share your feelings or just listen.

The next meeting will be on Monday 18 August at 171 Bulwer Road, Glenwood, at 6pm

BENSON Place Retirement Complex, 26 Rapson Road, (off Windermere Road), Morningside, will hold a mini fete on Saturday 6 September from 8am to noon.
