Bus drivers threaten strike

Bus commuters are urged to make alternative transport arrangements this afternoon.

COMMUTERS may find themselves stranded this afternoon (Friday, 1 August) after bus drivers at the municipal bus operator, Transnat, have threatened not to honour the afternoon shift.

eThekwini Municipality sent a media release out this afternoon to notify the public that the service may be disrupted if the drivers went ahead with their threat.

According to Transnat Management, they are experiencing a labour dispute with drivers over payment of their salaries for July.

All bus commuters are requested to make alternative arrangements for transport this afternoon. The municipality extended its apologies for the inconvenience caused and said it was engaging with the operator to ensure the service is restored soon.
