Sterling work by UIP officers commended

UIP guards are providing top service to Florida Road.

FLORIDA Road UIP security officers Lucky Majola and Yenga Balthazar of the UIP patrol have excelled in their duties once again.

On Wednesday, 16 July, they found an abandoned bag in Montpelier Road, inside which they found a wallet with a drivers license and FNB bank cards along with other personal items. They took the cards to the Florida Road FNB branch and got them to look up the owner who was then contacted and reunited with his personal effects.

On Thursday, 17 July, at 5.35am, the guards reacted to suspicious activity in 8th Avenue. They discovered the gate to the rear parking had been derailed and waited at the property.

“A silver Ford Focus returned to the scene and upon seeing the patrollers, the suspects fled but our guards reported the registration number, which through investigation by Enforce was found to have false plates and was linked to other crimes in the greater Durban area. Enforce is working with the SAPS and other crime prevention units to track the suspects,” said precinct manager, Gray Braatvedt.

There has also been ongoing upgrade and maintenance work on Florida Road over the past few weeks.

“Road marking in Florida Road from Argyle to Gordon is looking rejuvenated after the road markings were redone by the municipality. The UIP maintenance team has been particularly busy removing illegal stickers advertising magical creams, wondrous wizards and weight loss products – 156 this month alone! It is a time consuming effort to remove the unsightly stickers from poles and boxes where they have been stuck,” said Gray.

If you see this happening report it immediately to the UIP hotline on 086 111 6113.
