Eskom sorry for load shedding

Eskom has apologised for country-wide blackouts on Wednesday night.

Eskom has apologised to customers who experienced power cuts on Wednesday night after two units from its power stations tripped and some of the capacity imported from Mozambique became unavailable.

The company claims that load shedding had taken place between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday to balance the electricity system.

The blackouts were apparently country-wide.

While the power utility giant has warned customers that the system remains ‘severely constrained’, there have been no further power cuts announced for today or the foreseeable future.

Eskom said it would continue to provide regular updates on the status of the power system.
