Woman killed in collision

A woman in her 30s was killed and eleven others injured shortly after midnight when a taxi collided with a fuel truck on Sydney Road in Umbilo.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, responded to the intersection where a mangled taxi was stationed in the middle of the road.

The deceased was found inside taxi and had already succumbed to severe head injuries. Advanced life support was performed on two critically injured patients after which they were transported to King Edward hospital.

The rest of the commuters sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. They were treated for their injuries and transported to various hospitals.

The driver of the fuel truck fortunately did not sustain any injuries.but police are investigating.
