THE annual Marie Biscuit Coffee Shoppe opened last week at Maris Stella as a lead up to the school’s 115th birthday celebrations on Thursday, 22 May.

The coffee shop is run by a dedicated group of mums, including some grannies, who ensure the shop is ready for girls and their mums, teachers and old girls to enjoy a cuppa with some tasty sweet and savoury treats.

Old Girls Committee member, Yvonne Lee, said it was good to come back to the school each year for a treat at the coffee shop. “It is a trip down memory lane for us Old Girls. I remember writing matric in this very room in 1953 so it really makes us nostalgic.”

Diana Jackson agreed, “It is always special coming back and seeing familiar faces. We encourage more old girls to come and join us on the committee,” she added.
