Eight injured in collision

Eight people were injured in a three-car collision in the Durban CBD.

TRAFFIC was severely affected as the entire intersection of Somtseu and Brickhill Roads on Monday night (19 May) was blocked, while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene of a collision.

Eight people sustained various injuries after three vehicles collided at the intersection just after 6.30pm.

Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care said paramedics arrived to find the three badly damaged vehicles in the junction.

“A quick triage was done and it was found that eight people had sustained various injuries. More ambulances were called to assist with the multiple patient scene. Once all eight were stabilised on the scene they were transported by various ambulances to various Durban hospitals for further care,” he said.

Jamieson said at this stage it was unclear what caused the collision however the necessary authorities were on scene and would be investigating further.
