Elections Update: ANC leads eThekwini vote

As vote counting approaches its final stages, the ANC has taken the lead in national and provincial elections in the eThekwini region.

Currently the ruling party leads the eThekwini region with 65 per cent of the national and provincial vote, with the DA in second with 23 per cent of the vote nationally and provincially.

The IFP  rounds up the top three provincial and national spots with around 3 per cent. 85 per cent of votes cast in eThekwini have been counted so far.

With 16,572,814 votes counted across the country, the process is just under 95 per cent  complete.

The IEC expects the vote count to be completed by this afternoon, with the official results to be announced on Saturday 10 May.
