Police nab scaffolding thief

BEREA police arrested a man for theft after he was caught with building equipment on Thursday afternoon.

According to Lt PN Naidoo, Communications Officer at Berea SAPS, Crime prevention members were patrolling along Mansfield Road at about noon when they noticed a man walking along the road with a large piece of scaffolding, a short distance from a building site.

“Our members stopped the suspect and asked him where he got the building material from and he could not answer so he was arrested for theft.

“We want to appeal to the public to employ security guards when doing home or business renovations as there are many attempted thefts from properties with building sites,” Naidoo added.
