Charity breakfast raises funds

Women enjoyed a breakfast at the Hilton in support of Feed the Babies Fund.

WOMEN showed their support for the Feed the Babies Fund recently by attending the annual breakfast at the Hilton Hotel recently.

Yajna Debideen, professional dancer, actress, model and the current Miss India SA KZN, was a guest speaker at the event and is also an ambassador for Feed the Babies Fund.

“I was introduced to Feed the Babies Fund in Grade 4 and ever since I have been donating to the organisation. Everyone is given the opportunity to get involved by donating to help make a difference in a baby’s life. You never know, the life you help save today with your donation, could be the doctor who one day saves your life,” she said.

The morning provided entertainment in many forms. There were designer clothes, bags and accessories on display and for sale with the commission from each sale going towards the Fund. Local artist, Steve Mandy was also in attendance and painted a shirt was was sold at the breakfast, and the money from the sale going to the fund.

Chairman of the Fund, Greg Wallace told guests that every cent collected by the Fund went to the babies in its care.

The organisation currently feeds approximately 8 000 pre-school children in the rural areas, townships and informal settlements of Kwazulu-Natal. Through their expansion into soup kitchens and other services, they reach a further 2000 adult and child beneficiaries weekly.

The public can help by donating R30 a month to feed a child two meals a day for a month. Donations of blankets, clothing, toys, stationery and other items are appreciated.
