Toddler survives near drowning incident

Blue Security guard saves girl after a near drowning incident at her home.

A three-year-old girl is in a serious condition and lucky to be alive thanks to the assistance of a Blue Security guard, after a near drowning incident at her Umbilo home on Sunday afternoon.

According to Garrith Jamieson, Operations Director at Rescue Care paramedics, his crew raced to the home just after 4pm after receiving a frantic call from the Glenmore Community Police Forum.

“Paramedics arrived to find the little girl in a serious condition. Fortunately a passing security guard as well as the Glenmore CPF had stopped to help and performed CPR which saved the little girl’s life,” said Jamieson.

Paramedics stabilised the child before rushing her to a nearby hospital for further care.

“Rescue Care paramedics urge parents to please keep a eye on your children around the pool. Pool safety is of utmost importance and all pools should have a safety net or fencing that is high enough so children cannot gain entrance,” advised Jamieson.
