AA predicts another petrol hike

Motorists may have to fork out more for petrol next month.

THE Automobile Association has warned  motorists they might have to dig deeper to fill up their tanks next month if the spike in the exchange rate does not improve.

According to AA spokesman Graeme Scala, Central Energy Fund data predicted a hefty hike in the price of fuel for February. He said prices could climb between 28 and 32 cents a litre for petrol, 15 cents a litre for diesel and nine cents a litre for paraffin.

He said that although international prices for fuel had dropped it was not enough to offset the deteriorating exchange rate which he blamed for the looming hike.
