First day at big school

Hundreds of children entered the classrooms at 'big' school for the first time this week as the 2014 school term started.

THERE was much excitement, a good dose of apprehension and some nervous tummies for both little ones and mums and dads as hundreds of children entered the classrooms at ‘big’ school for the first time this week as the 2014 school term started.

While majority of the young pupils took the start of their school careers in their stride, it was mums and dads who
showed signs of anxiousness at this major milestone in the lives of their children who happily waved them goodbye as they settled into their classrooms.

At Glenmore Primary School, both the Grade 1 classes were down in numbers from last year. Principal, David Spiteri, said some parents had come in at the last minute to apply to have their children enrolled. He said he would not abdictate his responsibility as a principal and would not turn away children living in the area.
