Claim your pets

2013/2014 was a quieter new year for Durban and Coast SPCA.

THE Durban and Coast SPCA urges people who haven’t yet claimed their dogs from their kennels to do so as soon as possible.

According to Juliette Nadarajan from the SPCA, a total of 23 strays have been accommodated since 31 December, however only five dogs have been claimed.

Twenty-eight lost reports were received by the SPCA and four dogs were found by residents and kept at their properties for collection.

One dog was brought in dead on arrival, however it did have a microchip and the owners were contacted.

“We did have a quieter new year and it seems to be improving year by year. It is very important to ensure your pets have microchips, but it is also vital to update details. We would find owners of stray dogs quicker if they had microchips. We urge people to visit our kennels during office hours to collect their animals,” said Juliette.

Visit the Durban and Coast SPCA at 2 Willowfield Crescent, Springfield Park, Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm and Saturday from 8am to 1pm.
