House robber gets 20 years

Good work by Mayville detective WO David Nzama led to the conviction of a man arrested for house robbery.

MAYVILLE detective, Warrant Officer David Nzama has been commended by the station’s management for the manner in which he conducted an investigation in a house robbery which lead to the conviction this week of a 34 year old man to 20 years imprisonment.

According to a police report, on 8 May 2012 at about 9.30am, two men entered a home and threatened the occupants with a firearm and demanded cash. The men held up the occupants in the room and ransacked the house taking cash, a laptop, cameras and jewellery.

One of the occupants in the house managed to call a relative for help. The relative came to rescue, and shot one suspect and a second suspect was apprehended. The injured suspect was then taken to hospital where he later died. The second suspect was arrested and an unlicensed firearm was recovered.

The accused was detained at SAPS Mayville and the docket was assigned to Detective Warrant Officer David Nzama to conduct investigation.

Detective Warrant Officer David Nzama’s dedication and commitment led to the conviction of the accused.
