Head to the beach to show your support for Movember.

ALL surfers are invited to participate in a day of seventies surfing and moustache claiming at the inaugural Off The Lip, Mo Retro Surf Jam. The event has been conceptualized by Quiksilver and Movember with the intention of bringing awareness to prostate and testicular cancer and various other men’s health issues as well as to celebrate the seventies era that contributed immensely to the surf lifestyle.

The event will take place at 10am on Saturday the 16 November at Beach Bums Restaurant on Kwa-Zulu Natal’s north coast. Surfers are encouraged to dress up in seventies surf outfits, alter ego’s welcomed, and ride surfboards relevant to the era. All surfboards ridden have to be pre 1980’s single or twin fins. The event format will see ten six-man heats take to the water via the traditional beach start with the top six surfers set to battle it out in the final heat scheduled for 2.30pm. Judging will not follow the regular criteria and entrants will be scored according to their style, originality, creativity and unique approach to each wave ridden.

Prizes for best dressed are up for grabs as well as other surf related awards. Cost is R100 to enter with a first come first serve policy of 60 surfers. Spectators are welcome to go down to the beach to join in the fun and support a good cause. All money raised on the day will be donated to Movember’s men’s health partner, CANSA.
