Cops nab thief inside vehicle

A thief was caught redhanded after using a remote jammer to gain entry into a car in central Durban on Monday.

A thief using a remote jammer was arrested in the CBD on Monday, 21 October after breaking into a parked vehicle.

According to Durban Central Police communications officer, Captain Kephu Ndlovu, it was about two ‘o clock in the afternoon when crime prevention officers Themba Msani and Mndeni Khumalo arrested the 22-year old man in Dr Pixley Kaseme (West) Street opposite Ackermans.

“The man was found inside a white BMW 320i after he broke into the vehicle using a remote to jam the vehicle whilst the driver was locking the vehicle,” said Ndlovu.

The suspect is from B section KwaMashu and was arrested and charged for theft out of motor vehicle. He is expected to be linked to other related charges as the investigation continues.
