Doll house fundraiser is no child’s play

THE Durban Association of Minature Enthusiasts, DAMES, were proud to raise R11 700 for charity with a raffle of a completed doll house.

THE Durban Association of Minature Enthusiasts, DAMES, was proud to exceed all its goals with the funds raised through the raffle of a fully furnished doll house.

The raffle of the doll house with all its contents, donated by Marcia and Tony Schillaci, made available for DAME, rasied R11 700 and the proceeds were handed over to Sara Benade, Director of Alzheimer’s South Africa, on Saturday, 24 August at their monthly meeting.

Lynette Schultz chairlady at DAMES said, “This is the most we have raised for a charity. We are a small group so are very proud, all our members worked very hard selling tickets.”

Benade was overwhelmed by the group’s gesture, “We are so thankful and thrilled for the kind gesture and for choosing us to benefit from the hard work and effort put in to the doll house. The funds will be used to create awareness and assist with dementia training and education for care givers of people with Alzheimers and dementia.”

The winner of the raffle was Mrs Glennis Hulsen from Westville.

DAMES meet on the last Saturday of each month at Berea Primary School, 20 Bellevue Road at 10am. Contact Lynette on 031 903 4981 or Aurora on 031 208 7462.
