Driver dies in horror crash

Paramedics had to wait for the trapped driver to be extricated before they could assist him.

A driver was killed when his vehicle veered off Coedmore Road, Seaview and rolled, just after 11am on Saturday morning.

Rescue Care paramedics found the driver still entrapped in the wreckage but were unable to gain access to him due to the way the vehicle was lying.

Firefighters worked quickly to free the trapped driver who was then extricated so paramedics could assess him. Sadly, the man had died due to the severity of his injuries before paramedics were able to assist him.

It is not yet clear what caused the vehicle to veer out of control and overturn. Police are investigating. Traffic was severely affected as Coedmore Road was closed while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
