School celebrates cultural diversity

The event is very important to the school and the learners, as it gives them the opportunity to learn about the diverse cultures in the country and schools.

THE month of September is not only dedicated to tourism, but is also devoted to celebrating the country’s rich heritage.

West Ridge High School hosted a cultural event on Friday, a celebration of ‘local is lekker’, the quintessential experience of just what makes South Africa so unique.

According to the cultural coordinator at the school, Dolly Buthelezi, the event is very important to the school and the learners as it gives them the opportunity to learn about the diverse cultures in the country and schools.

“This is an annual celebration we host at the school, which is aimed at instilling pride and confidence to the learners about their cultures and heritage. Every year the event grows and this year over 15 groups from the school participated. It brings the learners together and everyone gets a chance to showcase their talent,” she said.
