Authors gather for summit

The Durban Self-Publishing Summit was an informative morning for authors to learn about publishing their books themselves.

AUTHORS and aspiring authors gathered for the Durban Self-Publishing Summit 2016 in Musgrave on Saturday 2 April.

The summit is for authors, editors, DTP operators and those who are interested in publishing, whether it be for books, magazines, manuals, catalogues or teaching guides, the same principles apply to all publications.

Participants were given informative talks by Carrie Sanders, marketing and sales specialist from i-go-books, who spoke on navigating through the print , production and marketing of a book, including online listing, promotions and distribution to bookstores, Val Waldeck, author and publishing consultant and kindle specialist, who spoke on publishing in digital and print formats on Amazon and other global booksellers without breaking the bank, and Clive Thompson, international professional book designer and photographer, who gave a step-by-step guide from start to finish on how to prepare a book for production and printing.
