Drizzle didn’t dampen Francofete fun

Human Right's Day Francofete celebrations continued without a hitch at Sutton Park on Monday despite the wet weather.

WHILE the rain came down intermittently over festivities at Sutton Park for the Alliance Française of Durban and eThekwini municipality's annual Francofête on Monday, the weather did not put a damper on the all day event.

Revelers came for the family and kiddies activities and remembered their brollies when they returned for the evening's sun-downer music concert that featured an array of francophone world music.

The evening concert featured iconic jazz guitarist, vocalist Louis Mhlanga performing with Madagascan accordion player Regis Gizavo. Performances by Tricopdo – a five piece innovative French / Reunion music-storytelling-theatrical-innovative-comedic outfit and Congolese band, Les Fantastique /Fantastic Guys performing their own brand of Congolese Latino fusion was a highlight of the wet evening.
