Full round of cricket for Quins

Quins 3 dismissed Newlands East Kensea for 182 runs to gain a victory by 26 runs.

UMBILO Harlequins Cricket Club had a full round of scheduled league matches during the weekend of 19 and 20 November. 

Quins first team lost their 50 over stream one Challenge League match to a composite team from Ilembe on Sunday. 
The second team’s match was aborted and the juniors’ match was postponed due scheduled matches clashing with school examinations. 

On Saturday 19 November the sixth team played a 30 over division five league match against DHS/ Rhythm 7 at Harlequins 2. Quins 5 opted to bat first scoring 151 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 30 overs. Chase Garner scored 22 runs, Darryl lavender struck 20 runs at number 10. However Quins batsmen failed to put on a single partnership of significance by virtue of losing wickets at regular intervals.

DHS Rhythm 7 have scored in excess of 200 runs during every innings so far this season, but were under duress at an early juncture through accurate medium paced seam bowling by Gavin Hazell whose six overs cost Quins a mere 13 runs, Darryl Lavender bowled six overs and captured three wickets for 31 runs, right arm wrist spinner Dieter Liebenberg captured three wickets for 41 runs in six overs and Ian karg took two wickets for a 12 runs in four overs. 
Quins 6 failed to break the oppositions final partnership of 19 runs, which allowed DHS Rhythm 7 a narrow victory by just one wicket. 

Quins fifth team took on Lamontville in a 30 over division three match at Harlequins 2 on Sunday. Lamontville posted a commendable total of 153. Quins top order batsmen responded well with Jarrod Murgatroyd scoring 21 runs and Casper Groenewald compiling 19 runs, however the middle order succumbed in relatively rapid sequence, resulting in Quins 5 being dismissed for 90 runs in 19,5 overs.

Quins third team played a division one encounter against Newlands East Kensea 3. Quins amassed 208 runs in 30 overs for the loss of four wickets. Opener Brett Williams top scored with 62 runs, Warren Torgius managed 42 runs, Lloyd Watts compiled 35 runs and Theuns Jacobs got 31 runs. 
Quins 3’s bowlers performed admirably – Connie Germishuizen bowled six overs and took three wickets, conceding 32 runs. Theuns Jacobs took three wickets for 31 runs in 5,3 overs, to assist Quins in dismissing Newlands East Kensea for 182 runs in 27, 2 overs, a victory by 26 runs for Quins 3. 

All teams except the fifth and sixth sides have league matches scheduled for 27 November.
