Cycle tour raises thousands

The 12th Dads’ Charity Cycle Tour raised an incredible R350 000 for The Sunflower Fund.

DADS, some moms and a few of their friends took on the Dads’ Charity Cycle Tour from Johannesburg to Durban to raise funds for charity.

The unfavorable winds made the ride even more challenging but the total of R350 000 raised for charity more than made up for it.

“I have just had the privilege and honour of joining 19 other Dads’ Charity members on riding the 12th annual Dads’ Charity Challenge from Johannesburg to Durban some 680 odd kilometers to raise much needed funds for various beneficiaries,” said Wayne Baker, chairman of The Dads’ Charity Challenge.

The group has supported The Sunflower Fund for approximately 10 years and hopes to continue to support this worthy cause for another 10 years.

“One of our main aims while we raise funds during the year is to continue to create the education, awareness and recruitment of donors needed,” continued Baker.

The five main beneficiaries for the riders this year include, The Sunflower Fund, Fulton School for the Deaf, the Gauteng Down Syndrome Association (DSAG), Qhubeka and CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation).
