Paint the town blue

Show your acceptance of autism by painting your hand or hands blue and posting this on social media platforms on 15 November.

SHOW your support for autism by attending the next autism awareness event, “iAcceptAutism”  on 15 November.

Those wishing to participate show their acceptance of autism by painting their hand or hands blue and posting on line as well on all social media platforms. There is no charge to be involved.
The goal is to empower individuals with autism to live successful and independent lives and the hope is that they will live in inclusive and accepting environments.

According to Caz Collins from Breakthrough Interventions, autism is not contagious and it is not caused by ‘bad’ parenting.
“Many of these misconceptions about autism have dramatic effects on these individuals and their families. They are often discriminated against, ignored, exluded from their communities and are bullied due to a lack of awareness and acceptance of this disorder. This event is being used to spread a message of awareness and acceptance nationwide to educate the public about autism,” she said.

Show your support for autism acceptance and inclusion by taking an individual or group photo with a blue hand, print the iAccept icon and take a selfie or post the iAccept icon on your social media platform (Facebook, Instagram or Twitter) on 15 November with the hashtag #iAcceptAutism #PaintTheTownBlue.
