Durban hosts international hospital conference

KZN Premier Willies Mchunu hopes for ground-breaking decisions and recommendations at the International Hospital Conference to help government to provide quality healthcare in the SA.

THE 2016 International Hospital Conference (IHF) hosted its Governing Council meeting on Monday, at the Durban ICC.

The Congress was officially opened by KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Willies Mchunu, on Tuesday, 1 November.

Mchunu expressed his appreciation to the President of the International Hospital Federation, Dr Eric Kreyberg Normann for choosing Durban as the host of the 40th World Hospital Congress which will see 600 delegates including speakers representing more than 40 countries from across the globe. The National Health Insurance which KZN is piloting will be a subject of the congress.

“Various forms of preventable diseases continue to undermine the health and quality of life of many people. We want to learn best healthcare management practices from delegates representing countries such as Brazil, Russia, Ghana, Finland, France, New Zealand, Netherlands, Botswana, Australia, Italy, USA, UK, Iran and many more others,” said Mchunu.

The premier said he hoped the Conference allowed for “ground-breaking decisions and recommendations that will assist our government to provide quality healthcare to our people.”
