School kids injured as taxi, bakkie collide

A bakkie and taxi collided with a stationary taxi, injuring 16 people this morning in Berea.

SIXTEEN people were injured, two seriously,  after two taxis and a bakkie collided at the intersection of Berea Road and Lancers Road just after 6.30 this morning.

According to Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care, the taxi and bakkie had collided in the junction before both vehicles veered out of control and collided with a stationary taxi carrying school children and pedestrians. One pedestrian  sustained serious injuries and was stabilised on scene before being rushed to hospital. Twelve primary school children were also injured in the accident. A total of sixteen people were treated on scene before being transported to hospital.

SAPS is investigating the cause of the accident.
