Kwaito star, Mandoza dies

There has been an outpouring of emotion after the announcement that kwaito star Mandoza died earlier today.

SOUTH African Kwaito musician, Mandoza, has died at the age of 38. According to reports Mandoza, who was born Mduduzi Tshabalala, was being treated for a brain tumour.

Mandoza, who embarked on his music career with the kwaito group Chiskop with three childhood friends, also took part in the kwaito documentary Sharp!Sharp! – the kwaito story and the rugby drama, Number 10.

The star produced a number of hits which included:  NkalakathaGodoba and Sgelekeqe. He also collaborated with Danny K on Same Difference.

Earlier this month, Mandoza’s producer, Gabi le Roux posted on Facebook: “Mpho and the Tshabalala family has asked all his friends and fans to pray for him, beckon the ancestors and keep him in your thoughts during this time.”

Fans expressed their feelings on Twitter and social media today after the news of the singer’s death was announced.
