Cold front could bring weekend snow

Don't pack away those winter jerseys just yet, there's a cold front on the way!

DON’T be fooled by today’s warm, balmy weather and temps, there’s a cold front on its way and according to Snow Report SA, temperatures are set to plunge and send us to haul out the recently packed away winter woollies.

Snow Report SA says a cold front will hit the Western Cape tonight, and with it snowfalls over parts of the Eastern Cape, Drakensberg, Kokstand and Matatielle in KZN on Saturday. Heavier snowfalls are predicted for parts of Lesotho and KZN through to Sunday.

By Sunday morning, the KZN midlands could be experiencing light snowfalls as well as areas around the Drakensberg, the EC Drakensberg and over high ground in Kokstad to Matatiele – these areas could get flurries and snowfalls through the whole of Sunday.  Falls could continue over the KZN Drakensberg and Lesotho into the night, but are likely to cease during the early hours of Monday morning as the front moves out to sea. Up to half a metre of snow can be expected to be left behind in places on the Southern KZN Drakensberg peaks.
