Blvck Crystals for UKZN

The Blvck Crystals will perform their jazz and hip-hop based music at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music.

THE Centre for Jazz and Popular music presents the Blvck Crystals at Centre for Jazz and Popular Music on Wednesday 21 September at 6pm.

The Blvck Crystals are a Durban-based band, the core band consists of pianist Jaedon Daniel, drummer Jude Kenrick, bassist Dalisu Ndlazi, guitarist Nick Pitman and saxophonist Nokwanda Nkala. On occasion, the band features two vocalists from Durban and two rappers from Cape Town.

Blvck Crystals' sound is jazz and hip-hop based. Each member brings their own flavour to the music. A large number of the repertoire is original material alongside a few covers.

Most of the band are currently studying at UKZN School of the arts. The band recently completed a highly successful Cape Town tour in July which took the band to higher levels. The tour successfully bonded and increased the chemistry between the band members musically and off the stage as well.
