Donate shoes for children in need

A photo of a child's shoes spurred Robin Hood Foundation on to start a collection of new and pre-loved shoes for children in need.

THE Robin Hood Foundation is encouraging the community to donate shoes for it’s Choose Your Shoes Spring 2016 campaign.

“A profound photo was taken by K&K Photography onsite at our Mandela Day Educational where we hosted f over 380 children aged two to 17 years in the Amaoti township. The photo is unstaged, unposed, unfiltered. The plight of this nine-year-old child tugged on the heartstrings of our volunteer team and made us realise how each day we get up and choose our shoes, our outfit, our accessories, when these young orphaned and vulnerable children don’t get a choice,” said Kim Griffith Jones from Robin Hood Foundation.

She is encouraging the community to get involved by donating any pre-loved, good quality shoes in good condition – all sizes welcome, donating a new pair of school shoes to donate at any of the drop off points or donating R50 towards the Choose your Shoes campaign.

“Marilyn Munroe was once quoted in saying, ‘Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world’, we are appealing to our community to help us give these children a chance to walk a little taller in a pair of new shoes!” she said.
