Two arrested for attempting to sell human head

Two men, believed to be vagrants, have been arrested for attempting to sell a human head to traditional healers.

DURBAN Central Police officers arrested two men for allegedly trying to sell a human head to traditional healers in the Warwick Triangle area on Thursday afternoon.

According to Durban Central communications officers Captain Kephu Ndlovu, traditional healers who ply their trade at Julius Nyerere (Warwick) venue alerted police.

“Two suspects aged 24 and 20 years old were found selling the human head which had two visible teeth and ears. It is alleged the suspects were looking for scrap metal at dump sites in Sherwood near Benela when they found the head,” Ndlovu said.

The suspects were attempting to sell the head for R100-R200 to traditional healers. Both suspects were arrested for being in possession of human body parts. They will appear in court in due course for violating the National Health Act and face criminal charges of violation of a grave. The suspects are believed to be vagrants who both live under a bridge in Mayville.
