Designers urged to reregister for Durban Fashion Fair

Designers are urged to register for the Durban Fashion Fair exhibition before Friday 5 August.

PEOPLE wanting to exhibit at this year’s Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) are urged to register before the 5 August deadline.

Durban has made fashion its business and has invested approximately R25 million in the Fashion Development Programme, making it the only city in South Africa to own its fashion week.

With the DFF 2016 fast looming, the City’s Arts, Craft, and Fashion Manager, Sindi Shangase said interested local designers are invited to apply for a pop-up exhibition space at an affordable rate.

The pop-up shop will be situated in the Durban Exhibition Centre from 31 August to 2 September alongside the DFF fashion shows and other activities that will be taking place.

“The pop-up shops will accommodate 25 designers giving them a perfect opportunity to promote their brands, network with industry experts and increase their clientele,” said Shangase.

Other benefits of exhibiting include the designers being listed on the DFF directory and a link to their web page.

Shabalala urged young and emerging designers to grab the opportunity.

“Young designers must use the knowledge gained from training to produce quality garments. This will help in eradicating cheap imports which kill the local economy,” she said.

Registration fee for small and medium designers is R855 and R1 500 for corporates and established brands. Exhibiting hours will be from 4pm to 11pm.
