DURBAN Central Flying Squad arrested two men on Thursday 8 August after receiving a tip-off that they were on their way to The Workshop to sell firearms.
When police arrived at The Workshop a crime intelligence member pointed out one of the suspects who was subsequently searched and a 9mm pistol and 11 rounds of ammunition was recovered.
The second suspect was escorted to his vehicle which police proceeded to search. A second 9mm pistol and 3 live ammunition rounds were recovered.
Both men, aged 39 and 44 years respectively, were arrested. They appeared in the Durban Regional Court on Monday facing a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Further police investigation is underway.
