A man and woman have been killed in a six car pile-up on the N2.

THERE has been a serious crash on the N2 Northbound after the EB Cloete Interchange.

Robert McKenzie from KZN EMS said a crash involving six vehicles has tragically resulted in a man and woman sustaining fatal injuries, despite the best efforts of paramedics to resuscitate them.

He said three people sustained serious injuries and were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital.

Initially the highway was closed but authorises managed to open one lane for traffic to flow.
“Impatient motorists delayed EMS responding to the scene by driving in the emergency lane. Police officers had to walk down the road telling people to move out of the emergency lane. The emergency lane is for EMS and other authorities to get to the scene of an emergency – not for impatient motorists,” said McKenzie.

He said the cause of the crash is not known at this stage and will be investigated by the police.
