Lady bodyboarders host clinic

A bodyboarding clinic was held by SA's top wave-riding women at the beachfront recently.

SOUTH Africa’s top female bodyboarders recently hosted a clinic at North Beach.

Top competitors that mentored the youngsters included Debbie Patterson from Durban North, Pamela Bowren from Stellenbosch, Skye Bothma from Margate and Sarah Houston from Durban. The clinic was aimed at anyone interested in learning how to bodyboard or to improve on their riding – young, old, boys and girls. There was pre-surf stretching, ocean knowledge discussions as well as guiding in the waves.

“We hope that these clinics will ignite a passion for the sport in new riders who will one day pass on their skills and knowledge to a new group of bodyboarders. We would like to thank The Holmes Brothers and Marilla Surf for their generous donation of spot prizes which will be handed out to a few lucky participants, as well as Joclyn Norton Studios for aiding in the stretching session,” said Debbie Patterson.

All of the country’s finest competitors will converge on North Beach on 25 and 26 June to compete in the inaugural 5A South African Bodyboarding Association rated Lizzard Classic.
