Crime awareness tips from Berea SAPS

Berea SAPS encourages all residents to be safe when moving in and out of their homes.

BEREA police are encouraging the community to be extra vigilant as property crimes such as car thefts and theft out of motor vehicles are a problem in the patrol area.

“Please, we appeal to the public to be more observant when parking their vehicles,” said Lt PN Naidoo, communications officer at Berea SAPS.

“Try to park in well lit areas if possible at night and never pick up a hitch hiker,” he advised.

Naidoo encouraged people to always be alert near gates, driveways and garages. “Do not leave valuables exposed in vehicles and always check that your vehicle is locked when parking your vehicle.”

Berea SAPS will host its annual Crime Awareness Day on Saturday, 16 April from 9am to 5pm at Berea Park (Essenwood). “The community is welcome to come share the day with us so that we can fight crime as a team. Together we stand, divided we fall, so lets win this war against crime,” added Naidoo.
