Reunion for 60s band

A rock band of the 60s will host a reunion event in Durban.

SIXTIES rock band, The Jets, will host a reunion concert at the Kharwastan Community Centre, Oak Avenue, Kharwastan, Chatsworth, on Sunday 27 March at 5.30pm.

In the early 60s two teenage musicians, Cyril Francis and Ivan Daniels decided to form a rock band. Francis started as the lead guitarist and is still playing as lead guitarist, and Daniels was the basist. They were joined by Godfrey Daniels, an accomplished vocalist as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist and drummer Tony “Bullan” Lazarus.

An organising team of volunteers decided to create an opportunity for the family, friends and fans to come together to be part of the reunion. They convinced Godfrey Daniels, who has relocated to Ireland, to make a trip to Durban. A spokesperson for the organising team, Estelle Naidoo, said that the group spent endless hours perfecting their skills and, even at their practice sessions, drew large crowds from the community of Sydenham.

Currently the remaining members of The Jets in Durban are performing to assist charitable organisations.

Anyone interested in joining the reunion should contact Babes Govender on 074 120 8025, Estelle Naidoo on 084 574 1219, Ronnie Govender on 076 145 5803 or 031 3093151 or Robbie Daniels on 084 444 4171.
