Soul food at slow Saturdays

Get down to River Town this weekend for the Slow Saturday market.

SLOW Saturdays, the much-loved weekly food market at 8 Morison Street, is currently being re-invented.

Starting this weekend, brand new homegrown music is being added to the already delicious mix of wonderful food and good people.

On Saturday 13 February the prodigal 16-year-old singer songwriter Cyndi Kritzinger will take the stage, as well as a brand new soul-sister duo called The Salaphis.

“We have decided to introduce a FREE daytime concert at Slow Saturdays, presenting a new South African act (or two) every week and adding a really cool entertainment component to the weekly event,” said Reece Easthorpe, lifestyle manager at Propertuity Durban.

Cyndi Kritzinger has been winning the hearts of audiences at small venues around the city recently with her passionate folk and acoustic rock jams, while The Salaphis have been called “the future of Afro Jazz”. Both acts are relatively unknown talents on the verge of success.

On the food side, a hand-picked selection of the best vendors including The Sushi Corner, Mantra Food Co, Roti & Chai, Superburger, Satisfried, Cul De Sac (Shisa Nyama) and fruit and veg vendors from Warwick Junction Market will be at the venue.

Don’t miss the market at 8 Morrison Street, Rivertown, Durban.
Entrance is free. The market will run from 10am to 4pm.
