Head-on collision takes two lives

This collision was one of the many road accidents that took place over the weekend in Durban and surrounding areas.

Two occupants lost their lives in a head-on collision involving a taxi and a small vehicle on Booth Road near the N2 Bridge on Saturday evening, 19 December.

Paramedics from Rescue Care were called onto the scene and found that the car had four occupants in it.

Garrith Jamieson, Rescue Care Spokesperson, said the front two occupants were severely entrapped in the wreckage and had suffered extensive injuries. “There was nothing further paramedics could do for them and they were declared deceased on the scene”, he said.

The other three occupants, including one person from the taxi,  suffered minor injuries. They were all stabilized on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the accident was not known at the time and SAPS are investigating it.
