Police operations prepare for festive season

Durban Central SAPS have embarked on a series of festive season operations.

DURBAN Central police embarked on festive season operations in an effort to keep crime from spiking over the holiday period.

According to Constable Zanele Khomo of Durban Central SAPS, Durban Central police together with Metro Police conducted a festive season operation at Mansel Road Market.

“Police addressed the vendors about the criminal activities taking place at Mansel Road and surroundings. We also spoke to the vendors about safety hints for the festive season including stokvel theft,” Khomo added.

On Monday, police continued festive season operations with the Durban Central K9 unit's Lt Colonel Sithole addressing the learners at Inanda Primary School about the dangers of drugs. “The learners visited Durban Central premises to learn more about the dogs. Lt Colonel Sithole was assisted by the sniffer dogs to show the children how the dogs sniff out drugs. This awareness forms part of the festive season crime awareness, to warn children about the dangers of drugs since the schools are about to close for holidays,” added Khomo.
