Chamber choir for Baroque 2000 concert
The Bloemfontein chamber choir, Odeion Vocal Consort, will perform at Baroque 2000's penultimate concert.
BAROQUE 2000’s next concert will be at the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill, on Sunday 22 November at 11am.
The Bloemfontein-based chamber choir, the Odeion Vocal Consort, directed by Lance Phillip, make their second appearance with the orchestra and will sing Dietrich Buxtehude’s “Herzlich lieb hab ich dich, o Herr” (with choir) and an anonymous Magnificat.
The orchestral works are Heinrich Biber’s Balletti Lamentabili a 4, Tomaso Albinoni’s Concerto in E op 5 no 9 and Henry Purcell’s exquisitely haunting Fantasia upon
one note, in which the great English composer superimposes melodies and harmonies upon a single note which sounds throughout the piece.
