Armed men hold up butchery

Four male suspects are on the loose after robbing a butchery at a shopping centre in Glenwood this morning.

FOUR men dressed in blue overalls held up a butchery at a Glenwood shopping Centre yesterday morning.

According to staff around the shopping centre, the armed men were dressed in blue overalls and did not draw much attention as they were seen “casually walking out” after the robbery.

A bystander who wished to remain anonymous said, “We didn’t notice anything until people started running after them saying they had been robbed. Then we heard gunshots and they were gone.”

A car guard who spoke to Berea Mail said he saw the men run out of the centre and two shots were fired in the air before they held up a taxi cab driver who was parked at Davenport Road.

The group of suspects allegedly asked the taxi driver to drop them off at a butchery near Warwick Triangle before they fled.

The staff at the butchery seemed shocked and wary when Berea Mail visited but refused to comment on this morning’s incident.
