DGC prize winners

Durban Girls' College learners were handed their awards at the school's prize-giving and Thanksgiving Service.

DURBAN Girls’College matrics ended their official days of school with a traditional Thanksgiving Service.

At this service the school gives thanks to God for the vision of its founders. Thanksgiving is part of the Founder’s Day celebrations – with the senior prize-giving comprising the other important component. This year Old Girl and founder of Pathways for the severely disabled, Susie Blanckenberg, was honoured with the highest award conferred by the Board of Governors – the Galleon award. The Guest of Honour was another Old Girl, Dr Anuschka Coovadia, who held her audience riveted by her powerful address.

At the prize-giving, deputy headgirl, Sarah Stols was the Galleon awardee, Deputy headgirl and proxime accessit to the Dux was Taryn Christie-Taylor and Dux of Durban Girls’ College was Daniella Bradshaw.
