Apologise to beggars, says resident

A resident questions the action by Metro Police against beggars.

EDITOR – In response to the article “Metro’s city-wide clean-up op reels in beggars.”

Interesting that the Nuisances By-Law is already in effect.

According to it, it “takes effect six months from the date of publication thereof (which was 11 September) in the Provincial Gazette or on such earlier date as may be determined by the

publication of a commencement notice in the Provincial Gazette.”

Could the City kindly produce proof of the publication of the commencement notice – or else apologise to the beggers for unlawful arrest.

If it can, then it follows that the training of enforcement officers is over. Would the City then kindly explain just why the other clauses of the by-law are still not being

upheld.
